|The West Australian newspaper reports that the Burswood Casino has effectively restricted the potential winnings of internationally known high-rollers after some of their numbers wiped out the casino’s resources in August in the annual baccarat tournament. Managing Director John Schaap reportedly said the casino would '... impose strict betting limits on its lucrative high-risk international commission business (ICB) to reduce the company's exposure to big potential losses.'|
Schaap admitted that the '... feel and nature of the ICB business is much more competitive [and] in going after growth, we found we were going for much larger players. The issue with much larger players is that from time to time, you won't win, and that's what happened to us in August.'
Burswood Casino now reduce table differentials -- the spread between bets for and against the house on each table -- by 25%, to $150,000 (US$82,891).
