Canadian repeal of anti-online gaming legislation
By Linda
Woodbine Entertainment Group launched an Internet wagering Web site on Thursday. This is after the group successfully lobbied for the repeal of legislation that outlawed Internet wagering in Canada.

The site, www.myWEG.com, offers real-time entries, results, and charts for more than 75 North American tracks, as well as live racing video and audio feeds, with wagering capabilities through Horse Player Interactive Services.

'MyWEG.com is truly a breakthrough in the way we can deliver up-to-the-minute racing information to our core audience,’ said Shelley Clifford, Woodbine’s Web manager.

'When online poker centred around dodgy companies operating out of Costa Rica and Antigua, consumer confidence was low,' says Rai. 'But the game still attracted millions. Now that big boys like Ladbrokes have moved in, we're moving on to a whole different level.'
