|The Associated Press reports that compacts between at least 10 Arizona Indian tribes and the State of Arizona will be signed into law by Governor Jane Hull by Wednesday, June 5.|
The compacts reportedly contain terms which are designed to allay the fear of non-tribal race track operators that the extended gambling activities of the tribe, which would include racing simulcasts, will interfere with business done at the tracks. The Indian casinos will have more slot machines, feature Las Vegas-style blackjack and off-track pari-mutuel betting on horse and dog races. There has been no reaction as yet from track owners as to whether they are allayed of their fears or not.
Arizona will benefit from a share of the revenues of the expanded Indian gambling business.
