|King Solomon’s Casino has released the findings of a study on 1,000 Internet gamblers and has come up with a profile of I-gambling types. Online gambling “has become a rapidly growing pastime among young, professional women,” says the study in part. 51% of those surveyed were women. |
The Solomon survey also found that:
78% of the women gamble online to relax, while 69% of the men gamble online “solely to win.”
Women playing with the same amount of money as men found that their funds lasted three times as long as it did for the gambling men. They were not that much luckier, usually, but felt themselves to be more “diligent and calculating.”
Men preferred Blackjack, which they regarded as a game of skill, while the women surveyed slot machine online gambling, which they felt they were in more control over.
The majority of King Solomon’s big online winners (making wins of $25,000 or more) have been women.
59% of the women have professional careers. Only 5% of them looked at themselves as professional gamblers.
Dr. Sidney Crown, a psychologist in London, said of the profile findings: “The research illustrates that women are the more cautious sex, but they still seek the same senses of excitement and anticipation as men. These feelings are obviously the instincts that drive people to gamble and ultimately succeed. The changing stereotypes within the working environment are starting to impact on our chosen hobbies and leisure activities, and it is interesting to see that so many professional career women choose gambling as a recreational past time.”
Dominic Mansour, a marketing consultant for www.kscasino.com, said that, “Understanding and providing the types of games, rewards and services players desire is a hallmark of King Solomon's Casino, and nowhere is that more evident than in the rapid rise in our female membership. We commissioned this survey, in part, to discover if there were any differences between the sexes when it comes to their approach, tactics and attitude towards online gambling.”
