What Happens When Online Gambling takes over a Town
By Linda
The town of Mount Carmel is still reeling from last week's surprising invasion of online gambling sites on its official town Web site. As of yet Mount Carmel officials have not uncovered what went wrong with the Web page.

The domain, www.cityofmountcarmel.org, was somehow transferred to a Hong Kong based Web site that promotes online gambling, sports betting, and poker. It is unsure whether the mixup was simply domain name a registry mistake or if it was intended. In either case the confusion began when the city changed domain registration companys when renewing the site. Apparently, the original registration company and the new registration company did not communicate the Web site's name renewal.

The town's police Chief Jeff Jackson joked with reporters 'I guess with the town allowing beer sales and the state approving a lottery, we figured Mount Carmel ought to get into the online casino business'

And while Jackson's logic was right on the money, it's doubtful as to whether this clever cop can convince the state to change their gaming policy.
