|A new 24-hour cable channel has been launched that shows exclusive live horse racing. North America’s leading owner and operator of thoroughbred racetracks, Magna Entertainment Corp, has announced the launch of Horse Racing TV (HRTV).|
The new cable network channel provides live thoroughbred, harness and quarter horse racing from across the US and Canada. Viewers may watch coverage of over 70 racetracks that includes post parades, racing odds and race results for a maximum of 15 hours a day. The rest of the 24-hour service shows repeats of earlier races and even some educational programs on horse racing.
Where legal viewers may also use HRTV to place bets using the phone or Internet via XpressBet™ at www.xpressbet.com.
All this and yet Magna are offering the channel as a free basic service to cable operators. Well it’s something of a rarity for a live sport to be made accessible without customers being charged extortionate pay per viewing rates. Cable operators already swamped with an extensive array of over priced sport will no doubt be relieved too. For them HRTV is a free guaranteed source of revenue.
Bill Bridgen, President of HorseRacing TV agrees: 'Our reverse business model enables operators to provide one of television's most important commodities - an exclusive, live sports product - while actually lowering overall programming costs.'
