|Telewest, a company that provides TV, Internet, and phone services to nearly 2 million customers in the UK, has “established a Consultancy dedicated to the roll-out of Sony's Playstation 2 gaming network ...”|
Sony will launch PS2 in Europe probably by the end of March this year.
The Consultancy, to be known as Network Gaming Consulting (NGC), will be funded by Sony and Telewest will assign five broadband specialists to the venture from their existing Blueyonder.com Internet service provider.
NGC will “ ... advise Sony on how to build a network that allows gamers to play via broadband links, with leagues and tournaments created which will be opened up to PS2 owners across Europe.” PS2 will be compatible with networks after owners install a broadband adapter kit, to be sold in coming months by Sony.
However, Telewest is already trying out such systems, made by Microsoft, Sony's greatest rival.
