|A German couple who had been thrown out of the exclusive Coral Beach Hotel, owned by the African Safari Club (ASC), on January 26, after exposing an illegal gambling syndicate on the premises have not been duly compensated, as was ordered by the Kenyan government last week. Officials from the Ministry of Tourism held a meeting with executives of the African Safari Club ater the couple, Mr. Hermann Merkt and his wife, Heidemaria, reported that they had not recieved the cash compenstation that is due them. |
The couple were evicted from the hotel two days after they reported the illegal gambling. The ASC claimed the couple had displayed “unacceptable behaviour.”
Beth Mugo, an assistant minister for Tourism and Information for the ASC, has promised the hotel would now compensate the couple as ordered.
