|Charlotte Church is to headline at the Aladdin casino in Vegas next month. The talented 17 year old, known better for her talents in opera, is to appear on 17th April.|
In a spirited attempt to distance herself from her beginnings in opera the young diva promises: 'It won't be poppy or `dancey'. It'll be R'n'B if anything. I want to do something really different, really original. It'll have nothing to do with classical.'
Charlotte’s new image was first set in motion when she hit the pop world with Opera Song as CMC in collaboration with dance music artist Jurgen Vries. Her first stab hit a respectable number three in the singles charts. Hell bent on moving out of classical music the teenager is clearly exploring other forms of music that appeal to her. With any luck she’ll develop a new fan base when she settles down on one and kicks herself into the mainstream.
At any rate she has declared she has no intention of recording any more opera. Instead she’s followed in the footsteps of another famous Welsh singer, Tom Jones, and headed to Vegas. The show will be her first solo in Vegas, however not her first appearance. The star already enchanted audiences at a child benefit concert in Vegas organised by former tennis champion Andre Agassi.
Charlotte’s fledgling career has already seen her sing to the Pope and Clinton. The Aladdin Theatre, capable of hosting 7,000, is expected Charlotte to be a sell out hit. However the casino is yet to officially announce the show. Even an Aladdin spokeswoman declined to give details. For more information check out the Aladdin’s website – the show might be unofficial but the details can be found there.
