Skill based slots on the ‘Net
By paul
Net Entertainment, a provider of no-download Internet casino software, last week launched Skeet Shooter, the first skill based slot machine on the Internet.

The game could demonstrate a trend towards convergence of traditional casino games and adventure type skill-based gaming. (and provide a valid excuse for once for using the term ‘gaming’ rather than ‘gambling’…..) Casino games based on skill have remained thin on the ground, despite much discussion of skill-based gaming in the past couple of years. But Skeet Shooter is the first Internet casino game where a player can win more by playing skillfully. The bonus game is a skeet shooting session where reflexes and accuracy help to hit the targets that fly over the screen.

With this game we have brought a new concept to casino games and that is skill game entertainment.' said Claes Frisk, Manager of Game Development at Net Entertainment.

Pontus Lindwall, CEO of Net Entertainment said: 'The online gaming industry is in constant change and this product may well turn out to be one of the bigger changes for game development.'

Of course, one factor – aside from the constant need for novelty - is the contested legal status of Internet gaming in the US and elsewhere. Skill-based games are usually exempt from gambling law, although it is only the bonus feature that involves skill in this case.

Skeet Shooter is online at cherrycasino.com and casinodomain.com
