|Gamblers at a UK casino put more than their money at risk recently when they faced a gang of armed robbers at a city centre casino in Derby. The gang took full advantage of their enterprise when after taking money from the casino itself they then forced the punters to hand over their own valuables.|
Fortunately nobody argued with the thieves, one of which brandished an illegal firearm. Instead everyone complied when the four men ordered customers to look to the floor as they cleaned the place out. During their ten-minute operation at the casino they plundered the cash room as well as the gaming tables.
Police said the masked men, were carrying at least one firearm when they burst through a fire door into the Carlton Casino, in Friar Gate, just after 4am on Saturday. Despite firearms being illegal in the UK, and recent attempts from the authorities for people to hand them in, firearms are still available to those with the right connections. Luckily they’re mostly just used to put the wind up people.
According to a police spokeswoman: 'The gang told staff and members of the public to look down as they stole money from the cash room and cash boxes on the tables. Customers were then told to hand over property to the thieves.'
Two of the gang fled to a rear car park and bundled a member of staff into the boot of a car. As chance would have it the member of staff had a lucky escape when the vehicle wouldn’t start and the thieves had to abandon it.
Officers said two others escaped in a black 2002 Subaru Impreza, which was last seen at the Priory Roundabout in Nottingham.
