|After having his law suit against Park Place Entertainment thrown out by a federal judge, Steven Mattes has bounced back by filing against them again – in a different state. You have to admit he’s insistent.|
The high-rolling L.A. businessman is adamant that Park Place intentionally defrauded him, claiming that he had to pay them millions of dollars in gambling debts. Steven, however, believes they cooked the books in a conspiracy to defraud high-rollers such as himself to bring in much needed cash. In fact he claims Park Place owe him his winnings.
In the last case there was a marked focus on the opening weekend of the Paris resort back in September 1999. At the opening Steven accused Park Place of creating forged casino markers and that the company’s accounts were fiddled. Although Park Place denied the allegations it seems the jury sided with the high-roller. Nevertheless the case was still thrown out of court.
Since then Steven has filed again, and Park Place are still pleading their innocence. Robert Stewart, Park Place spokesman: 'Mr. Mattes has concocted a grand conspiracy theory in order to blame his gambling losses on everyone but himself.'
But the businessman isn’t stopping there. He’s also filed a notion in the Las Vegas District Court for the judge to reconsider his original ruling. Maybe he should get Mulder and Scully in on the case.
