|The American Gaming Association (AGA) has released its survey, “State of the States,” on the attitudes of Americans on casino gaming and its findings are positive for the industry, with positive indications, too, for online gambling. |
Adults, especially young adults, compose an 85% majority that views casino entertainment as “an acceptable activity for themselves or others.” This was a 79 percent increase from the 2002 survey.
The level of increase held across all groups in American society, but among young adults between 21 and 39, there is a 91% approval rating. The approval rate is still high among Americans over 50, of whom 81% approved of casino gaming.
“This public opinion data serves to quantify our long-held assumption that the more familiar people are with the casino industry, the more likely they are to embrace and support it,” said AGA President and CEO, Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr.
The AGA survey also found that 54% of Americans would find casino gaming in their area acceptable because of the industry’s economic benefits.
