Casino waitress fired after loan probe
By darren
Police investigations into a loan shark ring run at a casino in Montreal have come up with some results. According to the TVA network, a waitress has been connected to one of the head money lenders.

Although police have questioned two other employees, a manager and security guard, only the waitress has been fired as a result. No charges are to be brought against any of them. According to police the ring loaned money to gamblers in financial trouble, then charged them a 600 per cent interest. Some borrowed tens of thousands of dollars. Anyone who couldn’t pay up was typically threatened with violence. Lucky for them the threats were simply threats.

They aren’t the only ones whose reputations are suffering at the moment. After the arrest of 16 people the media had a field day when it came to light that many of them were related to Montreal goaltender, Jose Theodore.

Despite an announcement from the police that the star had no involvement in the case he’s been dropped from a TV advert for a sandwich chain. I can’t for the life of me see why. I always thought any publicity was good publicity.
