First on the prohibition trail it was the US, now it seems the Dutch have caught the anti- online gambling bug. A Dutch court 21 has ordered 21 Internet gambling sites based abroad to ban Dutch visitors, according to a report by European Digital Rights, an association of privacy and civil rights organisations in Europe.

The Financial Times reports that a total of 40 companies had been called to court and another 42 companies have said they will take steps to exclude Dutch visitors.

If the gambling site operators continue to offer online gambling in the Netherlands, they are liable for fines of €10,000 (US$11,487) per day, up to a maximum of €200,000 (US$229,751).”
