|Las Vegas casinos want in on the China gambling market. Not satisfied with being America’s, if not the world’s, gambling capital they’ve decided to spread their empire over there as well. This is slightly surprising as China isn’t exactly known as a land of opportunity for the gambling industry. In fact there’s only one region in the huge landmass where casinos are even legal.|
The catchy named Macau Special Administrative Region is where the big boys are all headed. Other than this region casinos are banned, not that that stops underground gambling at all. It’s meant to be rife. Of course the influx of American business might just have the effect of spreading legal casino gambling throughout China.
In the mean time the local big shot, the Macau Gaming Company, have struck out at the invasion by starting a massive recruitment campaign. The strategy seems to be an attempt to nab all the decently skilled staff. The Vegas businesses, the Wynn Resort and the Galaxy casino, are poised to recruit later in the year, although Galaxy casino has already started job fairs.
The casinos might be starting a little war amongst themselves, but Macau itself is all for it. The anticipated economic influx to the area already has citizens drooling. Even the University is getting in on the act with new courses associated with the gambling business starting next semester.
