The Interprovincial Lottery Corp is saying that Prince Edward Island would be violating restrictions on Internet gambling if Canadians in other provinces bought tickets on the web without the consent of their own province.
Officials in Prince Edward Island are undeterred by this criticism and last month filed a legal reference requesting the province’s top court to investigate the issue of whether the province had the authority to run such a lottery within the constraints of the law.
Canada currently only allows Canadians to gamble at offshore sites, operators are not allowed to run such sites from Canadian soil.
