|Nevada Supreme Court made a supremely controversial decision to overturn the convictions of a pair that robbed and killed their former boss, Ted Binion, a Las Vegas casino exec. The two tried to steal a fortune of silver that Binion had buried in an underground vault.|
Opportunists or what! Sandy Murphy, a onetime pole dancer, lived with Binion, found out about the fortune and got herself involved on the side with the very contactor who built the vault. Either way she was getting that silver.
In their supreme wisdom, the court decided that Sandy and Rick Tabish, the vault builder, should be put on a new trial for murder, robbery, burglary and larceny - that’s what happens when you marry the mob.
Part of the reason why the appeal was so successful was that medical experts couldn’t quite agree on how Binion died. Some suggested he had an overdose of heroin, valium and Xanax, whilst another reckoned he had been suffocated.
