Ladbrokes Takes New Media Age 2003 Effectiveness Award
By staff
Fending off strong competition from a host of advertising and technology companies, Connextra’s innovative work with Ladbrokes picked up the prize for the Sports and Gambling category at the prestigious New Media Age 2003 Effectiveness Awards in London last month.

New Media Age has frequently given positive coverage to Connextra’s unique ad serving platform, championing the way in which it enables marketers to use relevant, up-to-the-minute product information rather than expensive, large format ad units to break through the increasingly cluttered landscape of online advertising. This prize consolidates Connextra’s position as the leading exponent of live and contextual marketing techniques, now used widely within the travel, retail and betting sectors.

“Integrating product offers with relevant site content is an extremely powerful and cost-effective marketing tool,” said Simon Miller, Head of International Marketing for Ladbrokes eGaming. “We are now considering ways of extending this strategy beyond the traditional sports sites in order to capitalise on the breadth of product that Ladbrokes offers.”

Commenting on Ladbrokes’ use of Connextra’s specialist third party ad serving system, the judges said: “This is a perfect use of technology - simple but very effective. It's proof that contextual advertising does work and that it's making a difference across the Web now.”

About New Media Age 2003 Effectiveness Awards

Since 1997 the NMA Effectiveness Awards have recognised and celebrated the best in new media, not in terms of looks or ambition, but in terms of how well projects have performed against their stated aims, of business benefits and of impact on the company's bottom line. And each year, as the number of entries has increased, so has the standard, raising the bar for inclusion on the shortlist ever higher. The result is a roll call of projects and businesses that demonstrate both the growing power of new media, and its crucial role in modern business.
