|Park Place Entertainment Corp. plans to change its name to Caesar’s Entertainment - only the name will be familiar to some patrons of a brothel in Bangkok, Thailand, also called Caesar’s Entertainment. The brothel has been running for years, and its website, caesarsentertainment.com, sports a logo similar to the one for Caesars Palace. The site promises 'More than jacuzzi and happiness,' and comes replete with images of the establishment’s “models, VIPs and B-girls”. |
Las Vegas-based Park Place last Tuesday announced plans to take the name Caesars Entertainment, to leverage the brand identity of the famous Vegas Strip casino. A company spokesman said the Thai bordello’s name would not deter Park Place.
Park Place spokesman Robert Stewart said the company was aware of the brothel and its Web site long before the name change was announced.
'When you have a brand that is as well-known and highly regarded as Caesars you always run into these kinds of issues,' Stewart said. 'We were aware of it for some time.'
The company will take all appropriate measures to protect its brands, he said, noting that the company intends to use Caesars.com as its Web address.
Park Place already owns that URL and uses it for its Caesars-branded properties, Stewart said.
