UK Gambling Reform Addresses Pub Fears
By staff
Fear that pubs could face competition from a casino on every high street under government plans, for gambling reform, have been fended off by ministers.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) plans to set a minimum size of 5,000sq ft for new casinos, as well as capping the number of gaming machines casinos can install.

Gambling minister Lord McIntosh said: 'The licensing regime for casinos must strike a clear balance between bringing gambling further into the mainstream leisure industry and ensuring fairness to participants.'
