Only 2% of English population prefer gambling online

The English do fancy an occasional bet, bingo or betting on those running animals. To put that fancy in percentile, 65% tried their hand on the lottery at least once within the past year, 38% have taken part in a raffle and 17% have betted on a horse. In a recent ICM poll commissioned by the Guardian Newspaper English lifestyle 2003 survey, lottery was the most popular punt in social classes AB accounting to 54% and 75% of social class C2's. ICM conducted the telephonic survey between August 15-17 to a random sample of 1,001 adults aged over 18.

Bingo and dogs ranked a very low percentile in the AB social class group, compared with 17% and 3% respectively in DE social class. Football pool didn’t score the goal and slid to a mere 6% in popularity from an all-time high of 47% in the 1950's.

Inspite of scores of ISP's, hundreds of cyber cafes, broadband in the home and millions of Brits getting online, and thousands of online gaming sites just a click away -only 2% managed to gamble online.
