MGM's high-tech rooms - will they have iGaming?
By maddy
If you thought 5-star Hotel Casino's couldn’t get any better you’d be wrong. Guests staying in the Hotel rooms at the MGM Mirage will now be pampered with digital video-on-demand service, high-speed Internet service, wireless keyboards, hotspots, broadband etc - essentially in-room video and data technology suites.

Cox Communications' Hospitality Network Division would provide MGM Mirage with the services and infrastructure at 13 of its U.S Casinos. According to the contract Hospitality Network would provide the high-tech services to 19,000 rooms in Nevada and 1,780 rooms at Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Miss., and in a new proposed Casino in Detroit.

While MGM MIRAGE declined to reveal the exact cost of the contract with Cox's cost are expected to run into the millions. Hospitality Network currently provides such services to over 120,000 hotel rooms in Las Vegas.

Does this mean that MGM Mirage customers will be able to game from their room rather than from the casino floor? That may not be in the cards as MGM Mirage pulled the plug on their online casino earlier this year. It has not be disclosed as to whether the internet access provided in-room will block online gambling sites from the view of MGM Mirage hotel guests.
