Can Gamblers keep their email address safe?

Harrah's Casino is suing a new rival Thunder Valley Casino for stealing customers. According to Harrah's officials filing the lawsuit, one of their ex-employees, Kitty Chiu, copied Harrah's confidential information about its top customer list and persuaded its clients by mail to visit the Thunder Valley in Lincoln in June 2003 when it opened.

Online, the ownership of customer lists is less clear-cut, with online casino mailing lists commonly used by more than one online casino. Some portals that collect online player data ultimate profit from selling that data to more than one online casino, resulting in a flood of unsolicited casino offers being sent to the email accounts of the unwittingly listed.

The result of non-exclusive lists in the online gaming world means that the number of Spam emails from online casinos is on the rise.

Gamblers who want to keep their email information safe should only share it with trusted sites whose mailing lists are used privately for the dissemination of desired information. Casino players are also safe to provide their email information directly to their online casino since the online casinos themselves will not sell customer data.
