In light of the tragic events at the World Trade Centre and at the Pentagon yesterday Churchill Downs incorporated has suspended all CDI live racing and simulcast wagering at all its racetracks and off-track betting facilities.

The suspension began yesterday after news of the terrorist attack reached the company, the action also includes the temporary closure of The Kentucky Derby Museum, which resides adjacent to Churchill Downs racetrack.

A decision will be reached at noon today regarding which CDI facilities will be re-opened for normal operation. Normal training hours will still be in place at all racetracks and training facilities, although security has been increased.

CDI President and CEO Thomas H. Meeker said yesterday “Churchill Downs Incorporated and its employees are deeply saddened by today’s events, and we believe that it is in the best interests of our patrons, vendors and employees to close our live racing and simulcast wagering operations today and tomorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”
