The Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) is offering an online course in casino management this fall.
Developed jointly by the HTM department and the Foxwoods Resort and Casino of Ledyard, Conn. the 'Casino Management' is a three-credit course. Foxwoods provides HTM with financial support to help develop the online gaming courses and in the long term, the casino intends to take advantage of the course to train their employees.
The University's Division of Continuing Education which is offering the course would cover casino marketing, gaming regulation and control, casino security and surveillance, gaming trends credit and casino accounting, casino hotels and casino food service, and the marketing of the gaming products etc. The department has been offering a general casino management course since 1998 with over 140 students in a 35-seat capacity classroom.
The course is from a management perspective for students aspiring to make a career in the multibillion dollar vibrant Casino industry.
With managerial salaries for large Casinos starting from $100,000 and scaling up to $350,000 per year the University believes its student have prosperous careers ahead.
