|BoDog Sportsbook & Casino™ today officially posted odds on the 2003 Stardust Invitational Handicapping Contest, making two-time champion Ken White a 5/1 favorite.|
“This contest is one of the most talked about events in the handicapping industry,” said Rob Gillespie, President of BoDog Sportsbook & Casino. “This year it features 16 of the world's best football handicappers. White might be the favorite, but this is wide open.”
Each handicapper will select seven games each week from the NCAA and NFL schedule.
'It's not going to be easy,' said Gillespie. 'It's a long, long season and seven games make it very difficult for anybody who has one bad week.'
The second favorite is Dave Cokin, another former winner, at 6/1. Two-time and defending champion Papa Joe Chevalier is listed at 8/1.
'The Stardust Invitational Contest is like the NCAA Tournament of Handicapping, especially this year because of the strength of the field.' said Bryan Leonard, of www.footballwinners.com and one of the 16 contestants. 'Of course, having a defending champion with a daily national radio show doesn't hurt.'
Leonard is 10/1 to take the 2003 crown. The long shots in the field are first time contestants David Stratton and Ron Frazier, both at 18/1.
'Even after 18 years in the industry, it's always nice to put on your resume that you were a contestant in the Stardust Invitational.' said Leonard. 'Hopefully the listeners will be able to garner some valuable information which will help them in their own handicapping.'
BoDog will be accepting wagers on the event only until Sept. 15th.
'We want all of our players to be able to have some fun and wager on this event,' said Gillespie. 'This truly is one of the best fields they've ever had in the Invitational.'
In past years the Invitational has included former athletes, celebrities and even coaches. Former UNLV basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian was in the field last year.
