|Dwight Oestricher of the Associated Press reports that International Game Technology plans to have more than 150 new slot games on display at the Global Gaming Expo, which starts in Las Vegas on Tuesday, September 16. The Expo display will be IGT’s first public promotion of flashy new updated slots such as “Wheel of Fortune Special Edition,' featuring the assimilated hosting of such celebrities as Drew Carey, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor and 'Animal House.' |
Joe Fath, an analyst with T. Rowe Price Associates, said that the expo is being held, too, to provide order-taking for IGT’s new machines but that it was difficult to predict which machines will come into demand. However, in anticipation of such demand, IGT stock reached a 52-week high of $27.60 on Monday.
Fath added that the competition among casinos to have the “hottest game” has “intensified in the last five years” and that legal gambling is expanding, other good signs for IGT and its new line of slots.
