|Guest appearances by pop superstars have yet to happen at online casinos, but who knows? Meanwhile, back in the real world, Britney Spears, the pouting pop pixie and erstwhile professional virgin, gave a surprise gig at the Palms hotel-casino in Las Vegas early Sunday morning. |
Spears, flanked by a group of dancers, treated the crowd to three songs from her upcoming album at the Rain nightclub in the Palms.
'We tried to keep it a secret,' said Rain co-owner Scott DeGraff of the Chicago-based N9NE Group. 'We wanted to make it a surprise for people. I know people were shocked. No one knew.'
Spears’ gig started about 1 am and lasted thirty minutes. Three songs in half an hour works out to around 10 minutes per song – Has Britney gone prog-rock?
There were 1,800 lucky punters inside Rain for Spears’ intimate little gig, DeGraff said, but they got a bargain, as the nightclub did not charge extra for Britney’s set.
DeGraff said MTV was there to film Britney, as were a number of celebrities in Las Vegas for the big boxing match between Oscar De La Hoya and Shane Mosley at the MGM Grand. So, an impromptu set it was not. But a good time, if not a good time girl, was had by all.
'It was just a crazy night,' DeGraff said. 'The place was just mobbed.'
