New Gaming responsibility code to keep Players Aware
By staff
Long toted by GamCare as a must have for casinos, new digital panels that tell gamblers how long they have been playing for are being installed on 3,200 slot machines in Nova Scotia. The terminals have been launched in conjunction with a gambling awareness week, which includes education seminars and mass media campaigns on responsible gambling.

GamCare, a UK gambling help charity, has long been asking online casinos that seek its reconditions, to install a similar system on their online casino games. In fact, GamCare is not just recommending slot clocks, but clocks across all casino games played online.

GamCare also recommends that online casinos offer natural breaks in casino play which can give the user time to reflect on redeposits and top ups before actually committing his funds.

GamCare’s recommendations have been well received by the online gaming community which wants to promote its successful self-regulation.

Terrestrial casinos attending the Gaming Industry’s G2E conference are also learning about Nova Scotia’s experience in handling problem gambling, but have not reacted as accommodatingly as their online brethren.
