After a series of internal meetings, the members of the Association agreed to be bound by a newly adopted Code of Conduct which is obligatory for all members operating i-gaming platforms. This new Code of Conduct will uphold the high standards of probity and trust that customers and regulators have come to expect from iGGBA members.
“In the main, the remote gambling space requires proper regulation and therefore iGGBA has taken the lead in developing a Code of Conduct which shall serve to increase the level of social responsibility and consumer protection”, stated Andrew Tottenham, Chairman of iGGBA.
The Code is complementary to the draft agreement with GAMCARE on a Social Responsibility Code of Practice which is expected to be approved in the near future. These two efforts go a long way in helping insure regulators and customers the seriousness of the industry to provide an entertaining service devoid of problems often associated with online gambling.
The Code addresses areas of jurisdiction, privacy, accountability, promotion, social responsibility and probity and trust. Just as important, breaches of the Code will mean termination of membership in iGGBA and a report to the regulator of such a breach. (www.iggba.org.uk)
