After Simulcast, account wagering is making major strides in the business.
Tony DeMarco of the Thoroughbred Racing Associations says, 'There is no denying simulcasting is very important to us. In fact, it's our business.'
Todd Bowker, GM at account wagering firm America TAB says simulcast coordinators should realize the importance of their positions and seek appropriate resources from racetrack managers to support their operations. He also adds, 'Account wagering is our future. By 2008 it's predicted that every jurisdiction that has pari-mutuel wagering will have some form of account wagering in its offering.'
Bowker advices secure betting and totalizator systems, should be in place to handle the global market and incorporating the reality more electronic devices will be used in betting. He predicts, 'Technology will profoundly change how the business of simulcasting is done in the next five years even more than in the last five years. It will force everyone in this room to upgrade (their) technology.'
