|Mandalay Resort Group (MRG) has announced it is to donate $1 million dollars to aid the families of police and fire-fighters who died whilst attempting to rescue victims in the terrorist attacks on New York City. |
Motorcity Casino, which is operated by MRG, and its employees are also trying to help by giving much-needed donations of blood. Motorcity Casino will also accept donations from associates; a series of blood drives are to be carried out at the property and all funds collected will be donated to the American Red Cross.
Vice Chairman of the Board of Mandalay Resort Group, Bill Richardson, said, 'Our hearts go out to every victim in this unspeakable tragedy, but especially to those who answered the call of those in need. If we can in some small way assist those who walk bravely and willingly into harms way, we do so without hesitation.' Vice President and General Manager Rhonda Cohen added, 'Last week's tragedy has affected all Americans, regardless of ethnic origin. Motorcity Casino and its associates wish to show support for the victims of this tragedy through our prayers and contributions to the relief effort.'
Motorcity Casino is operated and owned by Detroit Entertainment, L.L.C., and is a joint venture of the Las Vegas based Mandaly Resort Group and the Detroit based Atwater Casino Group.
