Australian police have reported that Chia Tec Leng, 43, a now former finance manager with Asia Pacific Breweries of Singapore, had over $117 million (US) in his account with a Melbourne casino, where he was treated with all the pampering adulation of a true high roller. In fact, Leng, now in court custody on fraud charges in Singapore, cheated four foreign banks out of the huge sum. He did so by forging documents to get the banks to lend “his” brewery money, which he, in sole control of the brewery chain’s finances, used for his hobby. He was known to others who know him well as a family man who loved an extravagant lifestyle.

Chia most significantly visited the Crown Casino in Melbourne, where his room was billed at $25,000 per night. He was also known to have been a regular player at the Ritz, in London.
