|“You’ll know something on Tuesday,” said an aide to Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Virginia, regarding the senator’s anti-gaming bill. Unfortunately for Goodlatte, and indeed the entire country, the Tuesday in question was Sept 11th, a date that has become infamous in Americas history.|
The events of Tuesday Sept 11th produced a number of after effects that have shaken the gambling industry, but they have also shaken the industry’s main detractors. Anti-gaming legislation has now fallen considerably down the agenda in the corridors of power.
“Last Tuesday’s events altered a lot of things, including legislative schedules,” said Goodlatte on Wednesday. “I plan to introduce Internet gambling legislation in the near future.”
Even before the attacks anti-gambling measures were experiencing trouble in Congress, now they are unlikely to even be considered until next year at the earliest.
