|Betfair are leading by example in their dedication to YOU, the punter, as they announce a joint initiative with Gamcare, the organisation committed to the promotion of responsible gambling, to take customer-service to a higher level and further protect the vulnerable gambler. The scheme, modelled on the FSA examinations required of all those who work in the financial markets, will see all of Betfair’s customer-facing staff attending seminars and workshops run by GamCare and sponsored by Betfair. By the end of March 2004 all Betfair’s customer-facing staff will be “GamCare qualified and registered.”|
Betfair and Gamcare take problem gambling very seriously, and the seminars will set out a ‘code of conduct’, which will teach employees to recognise problem gamblers and how to deal with them. Peter Cox, GamCare Director of Operations, said, 'This initiative falls precisely in line with the clear need for companies to demonstrate their social responsibility via their staff. GamCare is delighted to play its part in helping give better service for the public.'
Mark Davies, Betfair’s Director of Communications, adds, “One of the government’s keynotes in their approach to the regulation of the gambling industry is the protection of the vulnerable. We have been working closely with GamCare for some time and we are absolutely delighted to be able to launch this initiative. It will increase the understanding of a key issue for our employees, and is a positive, defined step in ensuring there is protection for those who need it.”
