|Motorola, Inc. and Chartwell Technology Inc have announced plans to demonstrate casino games on Java™ enabled Motorola phones. The games on show are play for fun versions of baccarat, slots and casino war.|
The demonstration is taking place at the Global Gaming Expo which takes starts today and ends on Wednesday. The games will also be on show at the World Gaming Congress later this month.
The games will be run using J2ME technology, which allows mobile phones to be customised with business and entertainment applications. The platform was announced earlier this year for use with the i85s, i50sx and i55sr handsets.
“We are excited to demonstrate casino games for the first time, on Motorola wireless phones with Java technology,” said Peter Aloumanis, vice president of Motorola and director of U.S Market Operations for the company’s iDEN® Subscriber Group. “This further illustrates the power of J2ME technology and the functionality of these multiple communication handsets. Chartwell’s play-for-fun games demonstrate the richness of content these Motorola devices are capable of delivering.”
With casino games already planned for use on palmtops, and the continuing technological advances of wireless applications, the gaming industry is sure to show considerable interest in Motorola and Chatwell’s demonstrations. Mobile phone gaming may be closer than you think.
