|BET365 announced last week they have started offering a lay service on the UK’s soccer Premiership and horse racing, and is also cutting their percentages on major league soccer, writes Mark Langdon.|
'It is something we had been looking to do as we feel it offers the customer greater choice,' said spokesman Steve Freeth.
Dones bookmakers started something similar a fortnight ago on the Premiership and Division One, with the stipulation that the minimum bets are trebles. Bet365, however, offers single bets, which in certain situations could lead to punters being able to guarantee themselves a profit on all outcomes on certain occasions.
'We are expecting arb players but we will monitor that. It's a very competitive market and you need to offer different services,' added Freeth (arb players are ones that lay all possible bets hoping to make a profit by hedging their bets)
Bet365 also allows the punter to lay multiple bets. So for instance, you could choose three teams not to win in a treble and only one needs to lose or draw for the punter to cash in on his bet.
The company is also cutting percentages from 109 to 107 on Premiership games two days before the game.
Exchange betting company Betfair’s market rarely goes above 102 per cent, but charges commission on winning bets.
