Paddy Power to launch online casino in Jan 2004
By maddy
Starting from mid-January of 2004, offline customers of bookmaker Paddy Power can play online. According to the company, the new casino will be accessible through the bookie’s existing website and will offer roulette, blackjack and slot machine games, with bets starting at 1 Euro. Paddy Power’s Internet division took in 93m euro worth of bets in the first half of 2003.

The casino is licensed to operate from Alderney in the Channel Islands, which allows Paddy Power to avoid betting tax. The Irish bookie is also moving its London-based phone betting operation to the Isle of Man in order to avoid British betting taxes. This new online move will hot up the action of online casino space already competed by British betting giants Ladbrokes, Coral and William Hill.

However, for online casino customers, this means more choice.
