Club Director falls foul of new law
By philip
Miles Rodgers, Platinum Racing Club Director, is to be charged by the Jockey Club under a new law that prohibits owners, trainers and stable staff from betting on their own horses to lose within a betting organisation. This is the first time Rule 247, which came into force last September, has been invoked and follows investigations into two races at Redcar on 28 October and Wolverhampton on 14 November respectively. Both horses ran under the ownership of Platinum Racing Club Ltd.

Betfair alerted the Jockey Club after five-year-old Uhoomagoo drifted from 6.6 (5.6-1) to 19.5 in the Marske Handicap at Redcar. The matter is expected to come before the disciplinary panel early next year.
