|Michael Hirst, recently appointed chairman of e-Commerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance (eCOGRA), has been awarded the Order of the British Empire in the new years honours list. eCOGRA is an independent body that confers seals of approval upon verified online gaming sites, in accordance with the eCOGRA Generally Accepted Practices ('eGAP'). These are designed to provide players with security and assurance that the online casino games on eCOGRA's approved sites are fair, players will be paid in a timely manner and treated fairly, and that operators will behave responsibly. |
The award comes as recognition of Mr Hirstís sterling services to the British tourism industry. Michael Hirst has extensive experience in the gambling industry. He is a former board member of the Ladbroke Group Plc and has held responsibility for Hilton Internationalís land based casinos. Hehas acted as an advisor to several businesses in the online sector where he provides strategic and business development advice to software and operating companies.
