The Middle Eastís biggest horse racing carnival, which comprises of 60 races and offers $21 million in purse money, is scheduled to kick off on January 29t. It will culminate with two major March events: Super Saturday, a March 6 six-race card featuring four graded stakes, and Dubai World Cup Day on March 27, when four group I and two group II stakes will offer $15 million in purses.
While betting and wagering is banned in the Middle East in accordance with Islamic principles, the companies are expecting betting fever from outside the Middle East and from the thousands of British expatriates settled across the Middle East, through off shore accounts. The first day of the racing event is scheduled on Thursday, Jan. 29 and will end on Saturday, March 27.
