|The PrimaPoker.com Tour took The Hendon Mob, from North London, on an unprecedented global tour to play in over 60 events, in eight venues, in three continents in an effort to demonstrate that online and terrestrial poker go hand-in-hand. The Tour represents the first major sponsorship in online poker and has elevated its status by introducing it to the media as a mainstream sport.|
The tour began on September 23rd in Las Vegas, with the prestigious Four Queens festival and culminated in Melbourne, Australia on January 17, 2004 at the glamorous “Aussie Millions”. Along the way there have been a series of exciting wins and heartfelt defeats both for the PrimaPoker.com sponsored Mob, and their forever-supportive fans.
Las Vegas - 8 final table finishes out of 11 events. The Hendon Mob started the tour with a flurry of final table finishes and two tournament trophies, as they showed the terrestrial poker world what PrimaPoker.com was all about.
London – 9 money finishes out of 6 events. On home turf, The Mob made a believer out of every spectator when they finished with 6 table finishes in 6 events. Two tournament trophies commemorate their decisive victories at London’s Victoria Casino.
Dublin – Ireland saw their reining Irish Champion and his fellow mobsters finish him the money 5 times in 4 tournaments. Five tournaments brought 1 trophy and a satisfied Irish audience who enjoyed seeing poker played at its highest level.
Amsterdam – Amsterdam proved the most elusive stop on the tour as The Mob sadly had “one of those tournaments”. No huge money wins, but a good time had by all in Holland’s biggest poker bash.
Helsinki – Barny Boatman became the official Finnish Poker Champion in the most northerly card room in the world. But stop the presses; Ram Vaswani took home the coveted title for “Best Overall Player”. Two trophies made Helsinki a favourite stop for The Mob and for the Finish media who recognised the champions as A-list celebs.
Walsall – One more trophy back in their home country and £52,900 in prize money meant a successful second stop back in the UK.
Luton – Barny Boatman finishes in Luton with the 1st place trophy in No-limit Texas Hold ‘em to no surprise to his fans. Ram Vaswani’s double win made Luton one of The Mob’s favourite stops on the Prima Poker World Tour sweeping 3 tournament trophies from their home ground.
Melbourne – The Hendon Mob finished in the money with $33,300 in the Southern Hemisphere’s most challenging poker, bringing their cumulative tour winnings to over half a million US dollars, a dozen trophies, and proving that poker players, like any sportsmen, play their best when supported by an industry #1.
