Top Layer Networks (toplayer.com), a provider of intrusion prevention systems (IDS) has announced that it’s Attack Mitigator family of products has been deployed by several online gambling sites. The new Internet security applications and software are being deployed by security conscious online casinos and betting sites from potential denial of service (DoS) attacks during peak traffic periods like the Super Bowl.

According to TopLayer.com spokesperson: ‘Many online gambling sites are preparing for a rise in DoS attacks, leading up to the Super Bowl - the largest sports wagering event in the world. This is in response to the recent rise in DoS attacks against gambling sites.’

The company observes that several online gambling sites have seen a recent trend of increase in extortion threats using DoS techniques, which capitalizes on Internet based gambling company’s total dependence on Internet connectivity to conduct business and customers who are generally not reluctant to walk away.

The security software in addition, to comprehensive logging and reporting capabilities enable the victims to provide law enforcement with valuable and specific information to help eliminate these threats.
