|According to an Organizing Committee of the Internet Civilization Project (OCICP) survey, there are 5,292 online gaming websites. Over 40 percent of the ‘netizens’, net citizens, surveyed say that they are always playing online games. The majority of those surveyed feel that China should greatly develop Chinese-made online games. |
Besides chatting and online gaming, the participants of the survey said that they also like to browse news and listen to music on the Internet. The increasing use of online gaming, combined with China’s policy of further opening up to commercial sectors, will make the Chinese market an increasingly tantalizing prospect.
It was also reported that the number of regular internet users was up to 79.5 million by the end of last year, a rise of 34.5%, while there was an even greater rise in the amount of computers that were connected to the internet.
