e-Crime Conference to Address Pressing Issues
By staff
Online criminals have hacked and extorted their way into getting millions of pounds from British financial institutions. Illustrating yet again the rise of organized gangs that focus themselves on internet-based crime, the scale of internet theft is to be discussed over a two-day e-crime conference to be held in London this week. Government ministers and senior security personnel from the US and EC are set to deal with many issues that have reared their heads over the past months.

Online gaming sites in the UK have been hit with attempted extortion attempts. Sites have been forced offline for a number of hours resulting in large losses of business and revenue. It is generally accepted that this trend was initiated in the Far East and then picked up by gangs in Europe and the US as local knowledge of when you approach the sites has been very specific.
