|The UK Culture Secretary, Tessa Jowell, is said to be waiting until the results of the governmental committee looking into this summerís gambling bill are announced before finalising the paper. Yesterday saw Jowell and Lord McIntosh present to a joint committee of peers and MPs.|
It has been accepted that the UK gaming industry has become stale and that the bill would help to give a much needed boost to jobs and help brown grounds regeneration. The massive rise in spending that has been stimulated by igaming has also been taken into account with the governmentís plans to focus on crime, fair play and protection of vulnerable groups.
Bad news for Betfair though; it is thought that one of the growing concerns to be addressed is that of websites which allow individuals to bet against one another.
