Washington State passes internet horse racing bill
By paul
Washington state has passed a bill legalizing Internet and telephone account wagering on horse racing in the state. The Legislature passed the bill and sent the measure to Governor Gary Locke.

The bill passed by 42 votes to 7 in the state Senate on Monday after a 79 to 17 vote in the House of Representatives last week. As well as account wagering, the bill lifts restrictions on simulcasting that had limited betting to 14 hours per day, five days per week, with only one simulcast race meeting. It would also now allow simulcasts at off-site facilities when Emerald Downs is not racing.
