|Mobile phone operators are increasingly taking an opt-in policy in content available through their networks. There are worries that technological advancements in the mobile phone industry could make access to gambling and pornography too readily available.|
Customers will have to provide proof of age to opt-in to services that are deemed to be of adult content by the operators.
All the major networks have signed up to a code of conduct. Part of its remit covers working towards securing filtering systems of both email and internet content, such as those offered by Openwave and SurfControl.
This self-regulation should stop much criticism of the industry and lend a greater air of authenticity to the igaming market. However, the move will certainly reduce initial revenues for such sites.
