|NDS and the Rank Corporation have announced the sale of Fancy a Flutter, their interactive games and betting channel, to Yoomedia Plc, the interactive TV and mobile entertainment company. NDS, which is News Corporation company and leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay TV, and Rank insist that, since its launch in May last, the channel has been a success and has quickly established itself as one of the leading gaming sites on the Sky digital platform. The companies feel that it is now time to pass on the baton to a specialist in the field, such as Yoomedia, to build on this success.|
The channel, which features at least five fixed odds betting games at any time, will be sold for £1.02 million. The consideration will be financed by an exchange of YooMedia shares. Recently appointed YooMedia CEO David Docherty told e-consultancty.com, 'Our acquisition of Fancy a Flutter consolidates YooMedia's position on the biggest interactive TV platform in the UK.'
This is YooMedia's second foray into the iTV fixed odds gaming market. Last December it acquired gaming channel Go-Play TV from Sony Pictures Entertainment, in a deal worth £6.4m.
